An Advocate for Senior Citizens
•
During his 16-year tenure as County Judge, Larry furnished
the old county armory for use as a senior citizens center.
He held his retirement party there in 2010.
•
Larry is a Board member of the Area Agency of West Central
Arkansas. The Agency supports centers across 10 counties
providing home delivered meals, socialization, recreation
activities, and many other services for area seniors.
•
Larry is President of the Area of Aging Foundation Board of
Directors. The Foundation provides blood pressure check
machines at all senior citizen centers.
•
With your support, I will work to find a permanent home for
the Garland County Senior Citizens Center.
I Support our Library
•
I oppose efforts to reduce the library property tax millage
from 1.6 mills to 1 mill. If passed, this proposal would
severely impact services to library patrons.
•
Last year, County Judge Darryl Mahoney appointed a highly
qualified school librarian from Lakeside to the Garland
County Library Board of Directors. Because she voiced
concerns over Act 372 of 2023, my opponent opposed her
confirmation. I would have voted to confirm this woman.
•
Act 372 of 2023 has turned our State’s libraries into political
footballs. Do you realize that this Act makes the Quorum
Court the last step in the appeals process for citizens who
object to certain books at the library and seek their
removal? The decision of the Quorum Court is final. I
would never vote to remove any books from the shelves of
our library.
Thank you for your support.
